Grön hårdvara och cirkularitet
When it comes to sustainability within IT, the question of hardware is central. Raw material production, manufacturing and transport of hardware, as well as the disposal of the same, account for a large part of the environmental impact of IT. It's not hard to imagine when you think about the number of devices (phones, laptops, hard drives, CPUs, GPUs, etc.) that are ordered, used, and disposed of daily in Sweden and globally.
At the same time, in many ways, the hardware enables the technical leaps and innovations through the increased computing power it brings, even within the sustainability area.
Therefore, here, we will gather information that illuminates the entire hardware life cycle to provide insights on how hardware can be used in a more sustainable way.
Questions to ask
Do you have policies for employees to use their own devices?
Do you have a hardware purchasing policy that includes sustainability?
Do you have maintenance policies for your hardware? (e.g., updating, defragmenting)
